We know that corruption impacts both people’s motivation to leave their homeland and their ability to reach their destination. The Mixed Migration Centre's June 2019 brief, A persistent reality: the role of corruption in mixed migration, argues that dialogue or cooperation with states on migration and migration governance must consider the functions of corruption and the potential fall-out of migration control measures.
